The National Coalition for Disabled Veterans is a non-party political organization(not a charity) established under the 527 IRS tax code. Our goal is to push for the election of Candidates that support our Nation's veterans and will work for those that suffer from PTSD, displacement, and other medical needs such as transportation to and from medical appointments.
Fix the broken VA Healthcare System
As the widow of a veteran with a service connected disability I unfortunately have experienced first hand the severe deficiencies with the VA Medical System. My husband has been dealing with the VA for over 50 years with much difficulty as most Veterans reading this know what I mean. Last year we traveled over 2 hours to the nearest VA Hospital, due to the broken VA system that would not pay for the procedure to be done by our local doctor. It was a minor out-patient surgery to treat a sinus problem. They performed the procedure and then informed us that my husband is good to get up and walk out and drive home. After signing the release papers and walking to the lobby he collapsed and died. This level of treatment is unacceptable.
According to the VA's Inspector General himself, more than 300,000 Veterans have died awaiting care at a VA Hospital. Something needs to be done. We need to push our Nation's leaders for more oversight and hold them accountable. We need to push for the election of more veterans in office that are familiar with and care about these issues. With your help we can make a difference in this Country.
So please help our Veterans by electing the right Legislators and make sure and cast your vote come election day,
Sincerely,
Judi Gragert
The Department of Veterans Affairs' (VA) Veterans Health Administration (VHA) operates one of the largest health care systems in the nation with 172 medical centers and more than 1,000 outpatient facilities. But yet the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) has designated VA health care as a high-risk area in 2015 due to five areas of concern regarding VA’s ability to provide timely access to safe, high-quality health care for veterans: (1) ambiguous policies and inconsistent processes; (2) inadequate oversight and accountability; (3) IT challenges; (4) inadequate staff training; and (5) unclear resource needs and allocation priorities.
Since our current VA healthcare system is under-resourced, many Veterans suffering from physical disabilities or trauma related injuries cannot get timely medical attention. Our Organization supports the election of law makers whose goal is to help our nation’s veterans get the medical attention they need and deserve.
Proven Political Supporters of Veterans
Through our work with Non-Profits, and other veteran-focused groups, we will advocate for the election of candidates that will work for more job training, and better healthcare for our veterans.
Important Veteran's Issues that we Support
Push for the election of candidates that will work to support our Nation's Veterans
Expanding the VA Choices Program to include more emergency and urgent care centers, and emergency transportation. Veterans should not have to worry about coverage when seeking needed medical care.
We support legislation to remove co-payments on preventive prescriptions prescribed through the VA Healthcare System. This is required of insurance companies outside the VA, and would eventually save the VA Healthcare System funds.
With the steady increase in the cost of getting a college education, we support increased funding for the GI Bill and the VA Co-op training program. Veterans often have trouble transitioning from their time in the military, these programs assist in a better transition into society.
Congress should mandate that HUD work with all other governmental departments to increase affordable housing for our nation’s Veterans. No Veteran should be without a place to call home!
We would like to see Congress earmark more funding for VHA to expand and improve its’ home care programs. Studies have shown that more in home care is beneficial to the Veteran and is more cost effective to the VHA as well.
